Located in the outskirts of Ghent, we renovated and enlarged this existing structure, adding big windows to bring in the light. The concept for this family home was to create brighter living spaces and a minimal interior with colored highlights through the different rooms.

The outside of the house is designed to blend in with nature, using subdued colors and materials like dark blue roof tiles and a grayish lime wash for the walls. The windows are left bare, fading to grey in the outdoor elements. Moving in, the floors across the house are a mix of smoked oak for the ground floor and clear coated for the first floor.

The kitchen is minimalist and structured, we used Moroccan tiles to reflect the bright outdoor light and bring some warmer textures. The master bathroom is completely covered in waxed concrete, also used as a finishing for the furniture and the bath to get a uniform looking space. This creates the perfect backdrop for the objects that make up the owners daily life. With its blue theme, the kids bathroom is the complete opposite. Using a variety of materials from Moroccan tiles to thick cement textures gives the space an extra oomph.
